Meet The Board Members - 2024-2025
Robert Silkworth (President)
Robert A. Silkworth, a lifelong resident of Anne Arundel County, was elected to represent Councilmanic District 2 on the Board of Education in November 2020 and began a four-year term on December 7, 2020.
Mr. Silkworth is a product of Anne Arundel County Schools and a graduate of Brooklyn Park High School. He is also a veteran of the United States Army Reserves, having served from 1967 to 1972.
Mr. Silkworth holds Bachelor of Arts degrees in secondary education and French from the University of Towson. He taught in Anne Arundel County Public Schools for 49 years before retiring to assume his Board seat. His teaching career started at Southern Junior High School, where he taught for two years. He then returned to teach at Brooklyn Park High School in 1974 and remained there until the school merged with Andover High School to become North County High School in 1990. Mr. Silkworth was inducted into the North County High School Wall of Fame in the fall of 2019.
He has represented teachers as a Faculty Council chairperson, the main Teachers Association of Anne Arundel County (TAAAC) representative, chairperson of the High School Concerns Committee, a member of the ASI-TAAAC Advisory Group, and as a mentor teacher for many years. Mr. Silkworth has also been the voice of the Bees and Knights in football, soccer, basketball, lacrosse and volleyball. Mr. Silkworth will continue to be the voice of the Knights when high school athletics resume.
Mr. Silkworth believes in the power of relationships. Success, he believes, depends on building solid relationships with students, staff, colleagues, parents, and communities.
Mr. Silkworth and his wife of 54 years, Linda, reside in Olde Mill. They have three children, Kimberly, Robert and Katie, and many wonderful grandchildren. Mr. Silkworth has a twin brother, the Honorable Judge Ronald A. Silkworth. His family also includes sisters Patricia and Paula, and brothers David and Kenny.
