McKinney-Vento Program

NOTE: Each school has a designated point of contact who will assist with enrollment for students experiencing housing instability. Please contact the specific school for this information.
All children have a right to a free, appropriate, public education. The McKinney-Vento Act exists to empower children, youth, and families facing or experiencing a lack of permanent housing. We're here to ensure enrollment, attendance, and academic success for children and youth experiencing unstable housing. Parents and youth can request continued enrollment in the school of origin or at the local school for the current residence. The Pupil Personnel Worker supporting the requested school of enrollment or McKinney-Vento Education Liaison can assist with school enrollment.

Students can be enrolled in the McKinney-Vento Program if they lack a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence.
This may include:
Sharing housing with another person due to loss of housing, economic hardship, or similar reason.
Living in motels, hotels, or camping grounds due to lack of alternative adequate accommodations.
Living in emergency or transitional shelters
Living in cars, parks, abandoned buildings, substandard housing, bus, train station, or similar setting
Unaccompanied youth living in any of the above circumstances
Children of migratory workers living in any of the circumstances described above.
Please contact the school to connect with the Pupil Personnel Worker (PPW) for assistance.
