Pupil Personnel Workers (PPWs)

Empowering Families to Support Their Students

Pupil Personnel Workers (PPWs) serve as facilitators between families and schools.

Working collaboratively, PPWs help identify, address, and alleviate issues impacting a student’s education, especially those related to attendance, residency verification, custody, and personal hardship. Part school counselor, part social worker, PPWs get to know families across the county and connect them to the resources they need to help their children be successful in school.

PPWs also provide schools and families assistance with:

Attendance

Getting your child to school on time, every day can ensure your child has a chance to succeed in school.

If your child starts to demonstrate school avoidance behavior, i.e., refuses to get up, complains of vague illnesses, or skips school, get help right away!

Call your school counselor and ask for resources. The school will refer you to your school’s Pupil Personnel Worker.

Custody

In order for your student to meet the Board of Education Enrollment Policy, the caregiver must present documentation that they have current legal custody.  Custody must be with the parent or court-appointed guardian.

The Pupil Personnel Worker (PPW) assists in the registration of students who are not residing with a parent or legal guardian due to serious hardship, including death, serious illness, incarceration, military assignment, or abandonment of the child by the parent or legal guardian.

The PPW also reviews requests for non-resident enrollment and provides information on tuition.
