AP DATA
Data for the current school year is updated as soon as it is available.
Anne Arundel County Public Schools administers roughly 10,500 Advanced Placement (AP) exams every year.
Currently, each of AACPS’ 13 comprehensive high schools – plus Chesapeake Science Point Public Charter School – offers AP courses. These courses allow students to experience the academic rigor of college, challenging them to think and express themselves at a highly advanced level.
AP exam scores range from a low of 1 to a high of 5. Based on AP exam scores, students may earn college credits prior to enrolling in college. Although AP credit policies vary depending on the college or university, an AP exam score of 3 or better frequently allows a student to receive college credit, or allows a student to qualify for “advanced” or “honors” college courses instead of entry-level courses. More importantly, AP courses expose students to the depth, rigor, and complexity of college courses while they are still in high school. Regardless of the scores they earn, students who complete AP courses and sit for AP exams are more likely to attend college and earn a degree.
