Higher Education and Professional Development Schools (PDS)

The AACPS Professional Development Schools (PDS) are schools that support the clinical and academic preparation of pre-service teaching interns. Each PDS is planned and implemented in partnership with an institute of higher education (IHE). The AACPS PDS program, in collaboration with the Division of Human Resources and Office of School Performance, ensures consistent systemwide implementation of PDS partnerships that address the preparation, recruitment, and hiring of qualified and effective staff. Once hired by AACPS, teachers begin their professional journey with development and support from the Right Start Program New Teacher Program.

Pre-Service Teaching

All internships and field placements are made through PDS Program Partnerships or the support specialist for Pre-Service Teaching. This includes everything from early field experiences that are a few hours in duration to full-time student teaching placements and school counseling internships.
