Frances Cruz-Serrano - International Family Involvement SpecialistI began my journey as a member of the International Parent and Community Partnership Academy, proudly representing my Hispanic community. Over the years, I have taken on multiple roles, from Teacher Support Assistant, Interpreter and Bilingual Family and Community Outreach Facilitator. Since 2022, I have served as the International Family Involvement Specialist, where I act as a vital link between the international community and the school system. I am proud to be Hispanic because our cultural richness, reflected in our traditions, music, food and art, distinguishes and unites us. Throughout history, we have demonstrated admirable strength, overcoming challenges with determination and hope. Our family values, such as respect and mutual support, are the heart of our community, and through them, we continue to contribute positively to society in various areas. But above all, our language, Spanish, connects us, gives us identity and allows us to express our essence and legacy around the world. Celebrating these achievements reminds you that you are part of an influential community. In addition, one more reason to be proud to be Hispanic is to have the opportunity to celebrate and pass on these traditions and values to future generations. Mrs. Cruz-Serrano is the inaugural recipient of the Educator of the Year Award from the Anne Arundel County Office of Hispanic/Latino and Multicultural Resources.

🎉 Celebrating #HispanicHeritageMonth! Joe Hudson - Hispanic Liaison, Annapolis Police Department #AACPSFamily #CelebrateDiversity #AACPSCelebrates #MesDeLaHerenciaHispana
7 months ago, Anne Arundel County Public Schools
Joe Hudson - Hispanic Liaison, Annapolis Police Department I was originally born and raised in Texas, my mother is from Mexico and my dad from Oklahoma. My mom taught me the value of service, helping people, and building relationships, and she is still at work in my life. Culture cures, and if you stay connected to your culture you can get through anything. Most of what I do is to honor my family and those who came before me. As the Hispanic Liaison for the Annapolis Police Department, I have spent the past 15 years working in the community with our families and schools. At the office I provide interpretation services and other services for police investigations. In our schools, I volunteer my time with students by joining lunch bunches, mentoring students, and supporting unaccompanied minors. Over the years I worked with AACPS Bilingual Facilitators in the program Joven Noble to run mentor groups for students. Students: you are perfect the way you are, and you’re going to be okay. Be worthy of a dream, and have your purpose be to map a way to make your dream come true.
