National History Day

More than 65 county secondary students representing 14 middle and high schools were recently recognized at the Anne Arundel County Regional History Day competition and awards ceremony. The theme for the 51st competition was Rights and Responsibilities in History.

Middle school students compete at the junior level, while high school students compete at the senior level of any given category. The first- and second-place winners in each category advance to the state level of the competition. Students were asked to share their historical knowledge, extensive research, and educated perspectives via various categories and expressions such as, visual exhibits, performances, websites, documentaries, and written assignments.
