Danielle Crankfield and colleagues

Danielle Crankfield, a school counselor at Crofton High School, has been named the Maryland School Counselor of the Year by the Maryland School Counselor Association (MSCA). The award honors a counselor for their impact on the academic achievement, social-emotional wellness and post-graduation plans of students.

“I am honored to be named the 2025 Maryland School Counselor of the Year,” Crankfield said. “It has been and continues to be a pleasure to work with students, staff and families over the course of my school counseling career. This award is confirmation that a student-centered, data-driven approach to school counseling truly makes a difference in students’ lives and is worthy of recognition by those in the profession.”

Crankfield, a National Board Certified Counselor, has served students in Anne Arundel County Public Schools since 2010, and has been at Crofton High School since it opened in 2020.

“Using data, Danielle identifies and addresses the specific needs of her students, ensuring that each one receives the guidance necessary to thrive academically and socially,” said Susan Love, Anne Arundel County Public Schools’ Coordinator of . High School Counseling. “Danielle’s rapport with students and counseling techniques are by far one of the best that I have encountered.”

MSCA will formally honor Crankfield and other award recipients at its annual conference later this month.
