Anne Arundel County Public Schools’ Financial Operations Office has earned the Government Finance Officers Association’s Award of Excellence for the 41st consecutive year.
The award, given for the school system’s Certified Annual Financial Report for Fiscal Year 2023, “has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive ‘spirit of full disclosure’ to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report,” the association wrote in its announcement of the award.
“It is critically important that the communities we serve and the taxpayers who resources we use are confident not just in our ability to exercise sound fiscal stewardship, but our willingness and commitment to carry that out,” Chief Financial Officer Matt Stanski said. “Much of what this team does occurs out of the limelight, but it is absolutely crucial to our success as a school system. I am immensely proud of the work each and every member of this team does.”
The award represents the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting. This is the 45th time AACPS has earned the award, the most of any Maryland school system.
