Board of Education President Robert Silkworth and Superintendent of Schools Dr. Mark Bedell released the following statements regarding the Fiscal Year 2025 budget adopted today by the Anne Arundel County Council:
MR. SILKWORTH
“I greatly appreciate this Council’s efforts on behalf of our students and staff and am particularly grateful for the repurposing of funds once allocated to the New Village Academy charter school in the wake of that project’s delay. Those funds will allow us to attack larger class sizes by hiring additional teachers as well as support class coverage by teachers who lose planning periods because of staffing issues or illness.”
DR. BEDELL
“I want to commend the County Council, the County Executive and their teams for the work that went into this budget. We are in far better shape than some of the other school districts around the state and that is a testament to the teamwork that exists here in Anne Arundel County. This is a budget that moves us forward and will help us help every one of our students Belong, Grow, and Succeed.”
