Parent & Guardian Leadership

In addition to being engaged within your family and school,  AACPS also provides a number of leadership opportunities for families. These are based on the belief that parents/guardians are most knowledgeable about their families and communities and can provide a useful perspective on the programs and community efforts that will benefit all children and families. The Citizen Advisory Committee (CAC), the International Parent & Community Leadership Academy (IPCLA), and the Anne Arundel County Council of PTA's (AACCPTAs) are all avenues for parents seeking a leadership role.

Citizen Advisory Committee

The Citizen Advisory Committee (CAC) Executive Panel is a structured group appointed by the Board of Education that provides advice to the Board on specific issues impacting educational policy, activities, and programs.

International Parent and Community Leadership Academy

The International Parent and Community Leadership Academy (IPCLA) is coordinated by the Office of School and Family Partnerships to develop leaders among international parents/guardians and community members in Anne Arundel County.

Anne Arundel County Council of PTAs

AACPS values our partnership with the Parent Teacher Association (PTA). Many schools in AACPS have active Parent Teacher Association (PTA) chapters. The Anne Arundel County Council of PTAs (AACCPTA) is an umbrella group that provides support, mentoring, training, and networking opportunities to local chapters. AACCPTA works in collaboration with their umbrella groups, Free State PTA and National PTA.
