Students enrolled in the AACPS Virtual Academy engage in virtual-only instruction during each school day.  No in-person learning is offered for Virtual Academy students.  However, there are optional in-person community events for students enrolled and their families.

Virtual Academy students receive real-time, synchronous, high-quality instruction 4.5-6.0 hrs per day from certified AACPS educators and participate in AACPS curriculum and assessments as well as all Maryland state assessments.  Our school offers students an exceptional educational experience and has embedded structures and supports within our school day so that our students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.    

NOTE: All Maryland state assessments will take place in-person for all Virtual Academy students. Families should review the information session video and other resources linked below before submitting an application to the Virtual Academy.  

Students must apply to attend school at the Virtual Academy using the magnet application portal link below.  All applications are reviewed for academic, attendance, and residency eligibility.  The Virtual Academy is a Program of Choice and not a magnet, but the Virtual Academy does follow the magnet application timeline and processes outlined by the district.

  • The application window for the 2024-2025 school year has closed.  If you have questions about the Virtual Academy or would like to inquire about possible enrollment and seat availability, please contact the main office at 410-544-1082 or reach out via email to the Principal.

• 2025-2026 School Year Applications:

  • The magnet system portal for new families to submit applications to the Virtual Academy for the 2025-2026 school year is now open. You can submit an application by clicking the "apply now" link below.

    • All applications are reviewed for academic eligibility, attendance eligibility, and residency verification.  The Virtual Academy is a Program of Choice and not a magnet, but the Virtual Academy does follow the magnet application processes outlined by the district.
