Tyler Heights Elementary is a Blueprint Community School nestled in Annapolis City.  The Team Tyler approach centers around a holistic accountability to cultivate a nurturing and engaging school culture that meets the needs of all students and their families.   The Tyler Heights Elementary School culture is rooted in our mission and shared values.  Our school vision, “Together is How we Excel”, guides how we teach and learn.  We work to develop a culturally responsive and trauma sensitive environment to foster the growth of the whole child. 

As a model language school we implement sheltered instruction language approaches and currently have the first Dual Language Immersion Program in the district. We closely monitor the rate in which our students are acquiring the English Language in comparison with the rate in which they are learning to read. Language proficiency has an impact on all subject areas including language arts, foundational literacy and mathematics. We work to build the capacity of our educators to provide a language rich learning environment to accelerate overall student achievement.  We are implementing school-wide peer coaching to build a culture of continual professional growth around the areas of Language, Literacy, Math, and Social Emotional Learning. 

We continuously focus on positive, authentic relationships based on mutual respect and trust for all families, students, and staff.  Students and staff feel a sense of belonging and connection through support of consistent PBIS expectations, restorative practices, and community based partnerships.  As a community school we leverage a coalition of willing supporters to meet the needs of our students.  We believe at THE that Together is How we Excel!
