Virtual Instruction Day (Synchronous/Real-time)

Please have your student log on to their chromebook. From there, please navigate to Brightspace

From here, scroll down to view your students current classes "my courses" OR you may click the grid at the top and a drop down of all your students classes will be listed. 

Your students teacher may post instructions on what to complete, a clickable google link, a "virtual learning lesson", ect.

Teachers may post instructions in the announcements section of the course homepage or in the "content" section. A google meet link should be pasted in the Nav Bar at the top of the page for each class. 

If you need additional help, or have not received any email communication from your students teacher explaining what to complete today, you may contact your students AP or counselor by navigating to the "Faculty/Staff" link on the left hand side. To find a specific teacher/department, please navigate to the "Departments" link on the left hand side. 

What Is Brightspace?

Brightspace is a learning management system (LMS) that teachers and students use for online teaching and learning. Brightspace is a multimedia environment designed to support all aspects of learning.  Features include dynamic learning dashboards where students, families, and teachers can track student engagement and achievement; communication tools to support teacher-student-family connection and interaction; and easy access to lessons, assignments, learning resources, and assessed work/grades. 

All virtual classrooms live in Brightspace, AACPS's learning management system. Along with Brightspace, students  may be asked to use Google Workspace for Education applications (ex. Docs, Slides, Drawings)  as well as other programs such as Wixie, WeVideo, Adobe Express, and Lumio (formerly the SMART Learning Suite Online).

I am trying to access brightspace parent & guardian and it says my login information is wrong or i do not have an account. What can i do?

You will log into Brightspace Parent & Guardian using the same username and password that you use to access the AACPS PowerSchool Parent Portal.  

Visit Student/Parent Portal for directions and resources or to set up a Parent Portal account. Contact your child’s school for further assistance.  

Parents with a Student/Parent Portal account that use their AACPS network credentials or have a duplicate of a username already in use in PowerSchool will need to change their Parent Portal username to access the Brightspace platform as a parent.
