About Us:
Harman Elementary School was named for the land donated by the Harman family in 1955. Previously the school had been a Rosenwald school (segregated schools named for the Sears and Roebuck founders) and during the late 60’s, and, until 2009, the school was desegregated and integrated as a federal Title I school. In 2007, it was determined that the old Harman school would be torn down and a new school built. Frank Hebron was the name selected through the community vote process to recognize the former student teacher and teacher-principal of Harman Elementary. By recognizing the past history of educational and societal growth through the combined name, our growing community is provided with a rich historical context for the school’s connection to the community. The Hebron family has commissioned, and we continue to have the support and partnership of, family members of the late Frank Hebron, who see the success of the school as a testament to the educational commitment and memory of Mr. Frank Hebron, and his wife Mrs. Irene Hebron (a former educator in our school system).
