ENROLLING YOUR CHILD

Students must attend the school in the area in which their parent or guardian lives. To determine whether Four Seasons Elementary is your home-zoned school, use the application on the Locate Your School page.

AACPS enrollment is completed online. Please click here, scroll down and click "Begin the Enrollment Process Here." This will open a new page with a list of required registration documents followed by a link at the bottom of the page to begin the online registration.

CUSTODY PAPERS

Parents who have court-awarded custody of their child must have the custody papers on file in the school office; otherwise the school must release a child to either natural parent.

CHANGE OF ADDRESS & TELEPHONE

It is extremely important that every parent or guardian maintain an up-to-date address and working telephone number record at the school office. Please notify the school immediately if there is a change.

WITHDRAWING STUDENTS
In the interest of ensuring a smooth transition for your student from one school to the next, please inform the office as soon as you know you will be withdrawing your child. Contact Sarah Davia sdavia@aacps.org and ask for a Request for Withdrawal/Transfer form. You will return the completed document to Ms. Davia who will subsequently compile a transfer packet to be emailed to you and the new school. If you would like a physical copy of your student's transfer packet, simply inform Ms. Davia when emailing the completed Request for Withdrawal/Transfer form.

 STUDENT ATTENDANCE
Doors open at 7:45 a.m. for students. At 8:05 a.m., attendance is taken and instruction begins.

Children arriving after 8:05 a.m. are considered tardy and must report to the office accompanied by an adult to get a late pass. If they do not report to the office for a late pass, they may be marked absent for the day, and you will receive an attendance phone call.

Please send a note with your child within 3 days of returning to school after an absence. Parent portal can be used to document absences.

Attendance is a critical factor in any child’s school success. Children should attend school every day, except in cases of illness or emergency. Regular attendance and promptness are good habits that are expected and appreciated at all levels of schooling.  School Counselors will be in contact with families if students have multiple days absent in a marking period. Absences are monitored by the attendance committee (Administrators, PPW, and School Counselors).

Absences due to travel are coded as 'Other Unlawful' in accordance with the attendance policy set forth by the Maryland State Department of Education. According to the policy, absences due to travel are unexcused.

The following is the policy regarding missed work during an Unexcused Absence/Unlawful Absence: Missed graded assignments for students who are unlawfully absent three or more days will not be accepted for a grade. Families may ask for classwork upon the first day back, but the graded assignments will be entered as E (55%) in the gradebook.

Missed graded assignments for students who are unlawfully absent one or two days will be taken upon return date and accepted for a grade.  Students may request classwork upon the first day back.

DISMISSAL--IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Dismissal begins at 2:25 p.m.

If the dismissal plan for your child changes in any way, please notify the office directly at 410-222-6501 no later than 2:00 p.m. on the day the change is to occur or by sending a written note as soon as possible. Families can send in a "green note." Without a written or verbal request from parent/guardian, your child will be dismissed according to their regular dismissal plan, without exception.

If someone other than the parent or guardian is sent to pick up a student, the office must be notified verbally or in writing by the parent or guardian, and the person picking up must present a valid form of identification before the student can be released into their care.

TO ENSURE THE SAFETY OF YOUR CHILD, WE MUST ADHERE TO THESE POLICIES.

When a child is to be dismissed from school early, the parent or designated adult must come to the office, present valid identification, sign the early dismissal log and then wait in the office for the child to come from the classroom.

EARLY DISMISSAL PLANS

Schools may be closed early in the event of a snowstorm, flooding, or loss of electricity or water. Please make certain your child is aware of his/her plan for early dismissal days, which may be different from their regular routine. Buses should operate normally unless you are notified by AACPS. If buses are not running, please notify the office staff AND teacher as soon as you are notified of this.

VISITORS

In order to provide a safe environment for our students, AACPS employs a secured entry, video surveillance and V-Soft identification system to monitor and verify the identity of all visitors entering the building. You must have an appointment in order to visit a classroom, no exceptions. Please contact Administration in order to make an appointment. Additionally, we do not allow anyone to eat lunch with their student.

Upon arrival at the building, ALL NON-STAFF VISITORS will be asked to buzz in at the call box by the main entrance and state their reason for entering the building. Upon entering, every visitor must report to the Main Office, provide a photo ID and wear an individualized identification sticker while in the building. Visitors in the building without a V-Soft sticker will be asked to return to the Main Office. Please remember to check out in the office when you leave the building.

FOR THE SAFETY OF OUR STUDENTS, STAFF AND VISITORS, IT IS CRITICAL THAT ALL VISITORS FOLLOW THIS PROCEDURE. PLEASE DO NOT HOLD ENTRANCE DOORS OPEN FOR OTHERS. IF YOU ARE AT THE ENTRANCE, PLEASE DIRECT ALL VISITORS TO BUZZ IN AT THE CALL BOX.

BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS

Due to allergies, food is not permitted to celebrate birthdays. Please send in pencils, bookmarks, etc. if you would like to celebrate your student's birthday. Additionally, we do not authorize or assist with handing out birthday party invitations. This is to respect all students and not leave anyone out. Please coordinate outside of school.

HOME-SCHOOL COMMUNICATION

The staff at Four Seasons Elementary maintains communication with parents through parent conferences, phone calls, email, and messaging through the new AACPS App. More info to come regarding the new app.

Additionally, teachers in all grades use the weekly Wednesday Work Folder to send home work, to share information and to communicate concerns and celebrations about your child's progress. Please check your child’s Wednesday Work Folder.
