Student Member of the Board voter registration is open from March 21 to April 14, 2025.

As per the approved Bylaws of the Chesapeake Regional Association of  Student Councils (CRASC), the number of votes allotted to each school for the Student Member on the Board of Education Elections is based on the enrollment of the school.  The following guidelines from Article VI of the CRASC Bylaws outline the calculation and selection of voting delegates. 

Section 1: Each secondary school will be given 15% of the school’s enrollment in votes, based on the school’s enrollment as of September 30th of the school year of the election.  

Section 2: Voters will register in a manner to be determined by the CRASC Advisor, and the Advisor should have all registration information a minimum of ten days prior to the election.

Section 3: CRASC encourages that voters be selected from a wide range of students from sports, clubs, special programs, and honors societies, to ensure total student representation. 

In order to take part in the Student Member of the Board (SMOB) Election on April 24, voters must be registered by April 14, 2025.

Anne Arundel County's student member on the Board of Education is the only one in the nation on a local board who has full voting rights per MD Educ Code § 3-2A-05 (2019) . The SMOB is elected by members of the Chesapeake Regional Association of Student Councils (CRASC) and appointed by the Governor. The SMOB's yearly term begins on July 1 and ends on June 30. 

The nomination process begins in February of each year and concludes with an election in April.
