Anne Arundel Economic Development Corporation

The mission of the AAEDC is to support business and serve as a catalyst for business growth in Anne Arundel County thereby increasing job opportunities, expanding the tax base and improving quality of life.  Their work includes a focus on our high school youth who are looking to enter the beginning of the workforce pipeline.  The AAEDC hosts internship information sessions to help current Anne Arundel County businesses sign up and recruit talented high school youth through our AACPS Online Internship Portal.  They work with the school system to search for science and technology sector business support of innovative ideas generated by AACPS students.  And, they advocate for career awareness and development opportunities for our youth across their business and industry ecosystem.

Anne Arundel Workforce Development Corporation

AAWDC is a 501c3 nonprofit corporation that provides innovative, high quality workforce development services to Anne Arundel County businesses and citizens.  AAWDC is the bridge between understanding the workforce and talent development needs of local and regional businesses and preparing individuals to meet their full career potential. AACPS and AAWDC partner on many early workforce opportunities for high school students that build career awareness, work exploration, networking occasions, and chances to earn a fair wage while learning alongside mentors. AAWDC’s FutureSuccess Internship is a dynamic program that provides Anne Arundel County youth and young adults ages 16-24 with career exposure, essential workplace skills training, financial literacy, and a meaningful paid work experience within a career/industry of their choice. Additionally, AAWDC has joined with the school system to tailor and sponsor career fairs where our students can meet employers, receive interviews, and be placed in real jobs and apprenticeships across Anne Arundel County.

Fort Meade Alliance

The Fort Meade Alliance is dedicated to fulfilling a mission to support the work and people of Fort George G. Meade, and help Fort Meade drive economic growth in Maryland. Their efforts generate real impact for our region through education and workforce development initiatives, transportation solutions, business connections and DoD community support. The FMA contributes greatly to the educational needs of students living in the Meade area and across Anne Arundel County in the following ways:

  • Project SCOPE – Security Clearance Overview & Preparation Education

  • Tech Mania – Annual events to bolster high school students interest in STEM careers present within the greater Anne Arundel County region

  • STEM Family Night @ the Arundel Mills Mall

  • Community, Business, and Industry support through Signature Programs at all 12 AACPS Comprehensive High Schools
