Gloria Dent (Vice President)
Gloria Dent was appointed to represent Councilmanic District 1 on the Board of Education of Anne Arundel County to fill the term of the late Candace C.W. Antwine and took her oath of office on September 23, 2021.
After 37 years of federal service that include serving 26 years in the active-duty U.S. Army and four combat tours, Ms. Dent culminated her military career as the former and first National Director for Veterans Employment & Initiatives for the US AbilityOne Commission. In this congressionally mandated position, she executed the first Apprenticeship Employment program focused on leveraging the federal procurement programs to create employment opportunities for Wounded, Ill & Recovering Veterans.
An active community organizer, Ms. Dent is the founder, and chairwoman of iCommunity Connection Services, a Maryland community- based nonprofit organization with extensive expertise in large-scale community events focused on veterans, community resources, credential apprenticeships, and empowering the next generation of minority leader, entrepreneurs, politicians, and inventors.
As the current Chair of iCommunty’s Board, Ms. Dent actively seeks changes to public policies that impact underserved communities and organized numerous community engagement events to aid in understanding the voting process and the importance of voting in local political races.
Since 2018, she has hosted more than 18 community events ranging from the Commemoration of the Desegregation of our Military, Black Lives Matters with Young Adults in both Georgia and Maryland, Get Out To Vote (GOTV), voter registration drives, and legislative symposiums on matters that affect Black and Brown communities at large.
Ms. Dent is also the owner and Chief Executive Officer of Genergi, a service-disabled veteran-owned small business management and consulting company designed to accelerate veteran- women-, and minority-owned businesses regardless of their background.
Ms. Dent serves as an active member of the Anne Arundel Workforce Development Corporation and the Planning and Advisory Board for the Anne Arundel County.
