Meet The Board Members - 2024-2025
Erica McFarland
Erica McFarland was elected to represent Councilmanic District 3 on the Board of Education of Anne Arundel County in November 2024 and began a four-year term on December 2, 2024.
She grew up in Indiana, Pennsylvania, and is one of seven children. She began pursuing a degree in elementary education at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania before becoming a wife and a mother.
After moving to Maryland, while her children attended Fort Smallwood Elementary School, she spent thousands of hours volunteering in and out of the classroom. Through the years, she has been a Scout leader, a religious education teacher, and assisted with the Chesapeake High School Robotics Team.
Mrs. McFarland has served on the Board of Education’s Citizen Advisory Committee, including a term as Vice Chair. She was also a member of AACPS’ Strategic Planning Steering Committee.
Three of her four children are graduates of Chesapeake High School, including one who is serving in the United States Navy. Her fourth child will graduate from Chesapeake High School ins 2026.
Mrs. McFarland works as an Office Manager at Our Lady of the Fields Church.
